SNMP Settings

NOTE:

When MM910 is upgraded from an earlier version to (U54)5.75 or later, configure the serial port password for the new version before enabling SNMP configurations and offline delivery. For details, see Switch Configuration.

  1. In the SNMP Settings area, configure SNMP for the Ethernet or FC plane.
  2. Click Edit. Table 1 describes the parameters.

    Table 1 Parameter description

    Parameter

    Description

    SNMP

Indicates whether SNMP is enabled. SNMP is disabled by default.

    SNMP read

The default value is Enable. If the SNMP version is v1 and v2c, SNMP read can be enabled. If the SNMP version is v3, SNMP read cannot be enabled.

    SNMP version

The message version must be supported by the upper-layer NMS. The SNMP trap message version that the MM910 sends to the upper-layer NMS is one of the following:

    • v1
    • v2c
    • v3

The default value is v3. If the SNMP version is v1 and v2c, you need to configure the community name. If the SNMP version is v3, you need to configure the user name, authentication protocol, and privacy protocol.

    User name or Community name

The user name or community name must meet the following requirements:

    • Contains 8 to 32 characters.

    NOTE:

MD5 is insecure. SHA is recommended.

    Authentication password

The password must meet the following complexity requirements:

    • Contains 8 to 32 characters. For the FC plane of the CX912, CX210, or CX220, the password cannot exceed 19 characters.
    • Contains at least two of the following character types: lower case letters, upper case letters, digits, and special characters (excluding ? and space).
    • Excludes the user name or the user name in reverse order.

    Privacy protocol

    • Ethernet plane: The value is DES56 or AES128. The default value is AES128.
    • FC plane: The value is DES or AES128. The default value is AES128.
    NOTE:

DES is insecure. AES is recommended.

    Confirm Password

The password must meet the following complexity requirements:

    • Contains 8 to 32 characters. For the FC plane of the CX912, CX210, or CX220, the password cannot exceed 19 characters.
    • Contains at least two of the following character types: lower case letters, upper case letters, digits, and special characters (excluding ? and space).
    • Excludes the user name or the user name in reverse order.

    Trap

Indicates whether traps are enabled. Traps are disabled by default.

    Trap Type

    Default value: Trap.

    Trap port number

Indicates the number of the host port that receives trap information. The default value is 162. The trap port number ranges from 0 to 65535.

    Trap address

Indicates the IP address of the host that receives trap information. The trap address range is from 1.0.0.0 to 126.255.255.255, or from 128.0.0.0 to 223.255.255.255.
